Alev Oskay was born in Istanbul in 1970. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department in Ceramics and Glass at Mimar Sinan University. Between 1991 and 1992, she worked as an assistant to the administrator of Heykel Workshop/Gallery. Between 1990 and 1993, she directed workshops at Istasyon Art House which gave ceramics lessons to diverse age groups. Between 1994 and 1999, she taught at the Faculty of Engineering & Architecture, Department of Architecture at the Trakya University. She completed her graduate degree in 2001 at the I.T.U Social Sciences Institute. Between 2001 and 2004, she taught ceramics to children with developmental disabilities (i.e. children with autism) at İçgörü Child and Youth Psychology Consultation and Health Center. She has been teaching in the Faculty of Engineering & Architecture, Department of Architecture, İstanbul Kültür University since 1999. She also teaches in the ceramics studio she established at the University since 2004. She continues her artistic work in her own studio in Sultanahmet, İstanbul as well.
